Raoul Schwinnen, editor of Auto & Mobility at Blick, has published a ranking of the cheapest electric cars.

Upheaval! Last year, the Romanian Dacia Spring Electric was still the cheapest electric car in Switzerland, but this year it has lost its leading position. There is no question that the segment of low-cost small electric cars is in a state of flux.

Popular bonsai electric cars such as the Smart EQ Fortwo or VW E-Up have now disappeared from the market. New models such as the Chinese JAC e-JS1 and e-JS4 or the Citroën ë-C3, on the other hand, are trying their luck on the Swiss new car market. And others, such as the Renault R5 Electric, which will soon replace the Zoe, are waiting in the wings. Only the VW low-cost electric car for 25,000 francs, which was announced years ago, is still a long way off.

The most affordable e-SUV, in the top ten JAC e-JS4, from CHF 29,989

Importer Auto Kunz from Wohlen AG is taking the usual aggressive approach to pricing with its Chinese electric vehicles in Switzerland. The list price of the Chinese e-SUV would actually be 35,989 francs. However, the importer is currently offering a 6,000 franc discount, making the JAC e-JS4 the seventh cheapest e-car in Switzerland - and an attractively priced alternative to the competition. Among the many small cars in our hit parade, the compact e-JS4 offers a lot of car for the money.

Rank 1 JAC e-JS1, from 16,989 Swiss francs

The four-door JAC e-JS1 small car from China, imported and offered by Auto Kunz in Wohlen, is now by far the most affordable electric car in Switzerland. With a range of up to 330 kilometers in long-range mode, the 61 hp (45 kW) e-twin certainly offers everyday qualities. However, only a few vehicles are still available. But the next delivery from China is on its way. However, these models will then cost 17,689 Swiss francs. The reason for this is the new import tax on e-cars that has been in force since January 1.
