A few months ago, Regionale Bauverwaltung WSW AG purchased a JAC e-JS4 as a pool vehicle for itself and its 12 employees. In an interview with Daniel Wachter, co-owner of RBV, and Fabian Bucher, technician HF, with JAC Switzerland, we find out how this came about and what experiences they have had with the e-SUV.
JAC Switzerland (JS): Mr. Wachter, what tasks does the Regional Building Administration WSW AG perform?
Daniel Wachter (DW): The regional building administration was founded in 1971 and has been an AG since 2017. We have a mandate solution for 24 municipalities that do not have their own building administrator. On behalf of the municipal council, we carry out the building law review of planning applications.
This also includes checks on compliance with water and fire protection regulations, as well as building inspections and much more.
JS: So only for administrations?
DW: In addition to the administrations, we also work for private clients in the agricultural sector and utility companies. This involves value retention and maintenance issues relating to road structures and utility lines. For the various on-site inspections, we naturally have to travel a lot to the customers, so we are regularly out and about in the region.
JS: You have purchased a new pool vehicle. What was the evaluation process like?
Fabian Bucher (FB): This was extensive and took about six months! As CTO and tech-savvy employee, I led the evaluation. We've been driving electrically since 2016, but the vehicle never had the range we have today. Today, however, we also have different expectations of a vehicle.
JS: What requirements does it have to meet?
FB: We had to find a good vehicle size and a sufficient range. We really wanted a vehicle from a partner in the region at a good price with good warranty conditions. We need a vehicle in which we can transport surveying equipment and also comfortably accommodate 4 people. The JAC covered all these requirements perfectly.
DW: Yes, and you, Fabian, were still at Auto Zurich.
FB: Exactly, I was most impressed by JAC's offer at Auto Zurich. I was able to have a lively exchange with Kevin Baumann from JAC Switzerland. I also looked at the offers from other providers. We want to provide employees with a vehicle that offers good safety and is comfortable because it has enough seating space.
DW: Exactly, and once we saw the price, we didn't have to think twice. The price/performance ratio is really good. It's actually almost too good and almost too comfortable. It's great for driving. And it's well suited to the general public and represents well. The range is also in line with the specifications. Careful employees would probably even drive 500 km on one charge. But I like sporty driving and enjoy it with the JAC.
JS: What are your reactions to the vehicle?
FB: Especially since it has been labeled, many people are curious about it and want to sit in it. Many are surprised by the quality, which is not expected to be so high.
JS: Would you recommend the vehicle to others?
DW: Yes, we would definitely recommend it to others. Fabian has evaluated it in detail and we are very happy with it. Everyone who looks at it is really pleasantly surprised. It pleases and has everything in it. The display and menu navigation are also good and the build quality is good.
